Obverse description The characteristic Boeotian shield rendered in high relief, depicted frontally and filling the entire field. The distinctive cutouts on either side of the shield are clearly delineated, with a raised central boss and curved lateral notches typical of this regional defensive weapon. The design is executed in the archaic Greek style with bold, sculptural relief, the irregular flan accentuating the organic quality of the hand-struck production.
