| Obverse description | A bovine figure — identified as either a cow or mare — stands to the left in profile, with the head turned back to face downward. Below the animal's body, an infant figure, tentatively identified as the infant Zeus, kneels and appears to suckle, evoking the mythological nursing scene associated with Cretan Zeus. The composition is rendered in a robust archaic style characteristic of Cretan coinage of the fifth century BC. The figures occupy the full field of the flan with no border or inscription. |
