| Obverse description | Nike depicted in three-quarter kneeling pose to left upon the back of a recumbent ram, her raised left hand gripping a sword with which she is poised to sacrifice the animal. The figure is rendered with fine archaic detail, her drapery falling naturally about her crouching form. The composition fills the flan with vigorous sculptural energy characteristic of late 5th-century Abydene coinage. |

| Reverse description | Eagle standing to right with wings folded tightly against the body, head erect and beak slightly open, rendered in bold relief with finely engraved feather detail. An aplustre — the ornamental stern-piece of a warship — is positioned in the field before the eagle, serving as a civic symbol of Abydos and its maritime significance. The reverse field is plain, with the devices executed in the hammered style typical of Hellespontine coinage of the period. |
