| Obverse description | Pegasus, the winged horse of Corinthian coinage, depicted in full flight to the left, with wings prominently spread and forelegs extended forward in a dynamic galloping posture. The musculature and feathering of the wings are rendered with considerable artistic detail characteristic of the Corinthian die-cutting tradition. In the lower field beneath the body of Pegasus appears the archaic Corinthian letter koppa (Ϙ), serving as a civic mint control mark. The composition fills the irregular flan with confident design, with no border or legend present. |
