| Reverse description | The reverse presents an incuse mirror image of the obverse tripod, struck in the distinctive sunken relief technique associated with early South Italian coinage. The wreaths on the tripod legs and the lower serpents appear in relief within the incuse depression, while the serpents rising from the bowl are absent on this side. The retrograde ethnic inscription (koppa and omicron) is visible to the left, and the outline of a crab appears to the right. A zig-zag line decorates the exergue, and a radiate border frames the entire design, adding a refined finishing detail characteristic of Krotonian staters of the late archaic period. |
