| Obverse description | Plain, unmarked convex surface of natural electrum with a characteristically rough, granular texture, exhibiting the unworked appearance typical of the earliest Lydian and Ionian coinage. The flan is irregular and bean-shaped, formed by casting molten electrum into a mould prior to striking. No design, legend, or device is present; the surface displays natural surface cracking and flow lines consistent with the primitive metallurgical techniques of the late 7th century BC. |
