| Reverse description | Helmeted head of Athena facing left, rendered in fine Classical style with naturalistic facial features including a slightly parted lip and detailed hair locks visible beneath the helmet. The goddess wears a Corinthian helmet pushed back on her head, its bowl prominent above the cranium and the cheek-guards framing the face. At the lower right of the field appears a small Thessalian-style pilos helmet, serving as a secondary control symbol. The letter alpha (A) is placed below the chin as a die-engraver's or magistrate's mark. Athena's neck is adorned with decorative detail, and a circular shield boss with serpentine embellishment is visible at the lower left, adding depth to the composition. |
