The upper two compartments contain the inscription Α and Ι, representing the ethnic abbreviation of Aegina. A dolphin swimming upward is depicted in the lower right compartment. The remaining compartments are left plain. The incuse technique, inherited from archaic coinage practice, lends a crisp geometric framework to the reverse design. |
