Obverse description An eagle displayed in dynamic three-quarter aerial view, wings outstretched and talons extended as if stooping upon prey, rendered in fine relief characteristic of the Kyzikene die-engraving tradition. Beneath the eagle, a tunny fish swims to the right, serving as the civic badge (episemon) of Kyzikos and a recurring type-marker on this series. The entire design is contained within a raised border ring that defines the tondo of the flan. No inscription or legend appears; the composition relies entirely on pictorial symbolism. The artistic execution reflects the high standard of naturalism achieved by Kyzikene engravers during the classical period.
