| Reverse description | Helmeted head of Athena facing right, wearing a Corinthian helmet pushed back on the head, rendered in archaic style with fine engraving of facial features and helmet crest. The effigy is set within a shallow incuse square, a hallmark of early Greek coinage technique. The treatment of the helmet and profile reflects the transitional archaic-to-early classical artistic conventions prevalent in Corinthian and western Greek minting traditions of the early fifth century BC. The incuse field surrounds the head with a plain, unadorned border. |
