Obverse description Nude youth depicted in three-quarter view astride a horse prancing to the left, his right arm raised and holding what appears to be a goad or switch; the rider is rendered in the vigorous Early Classical style characteristic of Cilician coinage of this period. The horse is shown in animated motion with forelegs raised, conveying a sense of dynamic energy. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded border. The composition reflects the accomplished die-cutting tradition associated with the mint of Kelenderis on the Cilician coast.
