| Reverse description | Incuse square divided into four quadrants by raised bars, forming a recessed mill-sail or windmill pattern typical of early archaic Greek coinage. Within the incuse square, a forepart of a bull or similar bovine animal is visible to the right, accompanied by a bunch of grapes or granular cluster of pellets. The partial inscription XEP (an abbreviated form of Chersonesos) appears in the field. The overall design is deeply impressed into the flan, reflecting the use of a punch die technique standard for this period. |
