Reverse description The reverse presents a quadripartite incuse square of mill-sail or swastika-like form, divided into four recessed compartments of alternating depth, characteristic of the incuse punch technique employed by the mint of Kyzikos throughout its electrum coinage series. The surfaces of the incuse panels are rough from the hammer blow of the die, creating a textured contrast with the smooth flan. No legend or additional device is present. This type of reverse is typical of archaic Greek coinage struck by the hammered technique, serving primarily as a guarantor of the flan's metal content.
