Obverse description Pomegranate depicted in high relief at center, rendered in a naturalistic yet stylized archaic Greek manner, with calyx and vestigial blossom visible at the apex. The fruit is presented in three-quarter view, its rounded form dominating the flan. A beaded border encircles the design, characteristic of the civic coinage of Side in Pamphylia. The pomegranate served as the primary civic emblem of Side and functions here as the principal type. The field is otherwise plain, focusing full attention on the boldly modeled fruit.
