Obverse description Griffin seated to right upon an ornamented ground line, its curved wings raised prominently above its body, the left foreleg lifted. To the right in the field, a swan or duck is depicted seated to right, serving as a secondary type. The design is rendered in the archaic Greek style with strong plastic modeling characteristic of Abderite coinage of the early Classical period.
