Obverse description Pomegranate depicted facing, rendered in high relief at the centre of the flan, with a short stem and calyx visible at the top and a stylised floral bud element at the base. The fruit is surrounded by a beaded border within a raised circular frame, leaving a plain, slightly recessed field between the border and the irregular coin edge. The design is characteristic of the civic coinage of Side in Pamphylia, where the pomegranate served as the principal emblem and probable pun on the city's name.
