Obverse description Facing right, the head of Hera is rendered in fine archaic-transitional style, wearing a tall stephane adorned with palmette ornaments along its crest. The goddess is further embellished with a pendant earring and a multi-strand pearl necklace, while her hair cascades loosely down the nape of her neck in carefully engraved tresses. The portrait displays the dignified, idealized treatment characteristic of Argive civic coinage of the mid-fourth century BC.
