Reverse description A quadripartite incuse square occupying the full reverse field, divided into four roughly equal recessed compartments by raised ridges meeting at the centre, characteristic of early archaic Greek hammered coinage. The incuse pattern was produced by the punch used to drive the metal into the obverse die, and its irregular execution reflects the hand-struck nature of the issue. The surface within the compartments is rough and uneven, consistent with the production technique of the period. No inscription or additional device is present.
