| Obverse description | A quadriga depicted in vigorous motion to the left, driven by a male charioteer who stands erect in the chariot, holding the reins in both hands. The four horses are rendered with dynamic energy, their manes and legs shown in full gallop. The legend ΚΥΡΑΝΑΙΩΝ appears along the lower exergual border in Greek characters, identifying the issuing city of Kyrene. The composition reflects the high artistry of late Classical Greek coinage from the North African mint. |
