Obverse description Facing Boeotian shield rendered in high relief, its characteristic cut-out sides forming the distinctive double-arched lateral openings of this regional infantry shield type. The central boss of the shield is prominently convex, surrounded by the scalloped rim with fine hatching indicating the leather binding along the outer edge. The design fills the irregularly shaped flan, executed in the bold, early Classical style characteristic of Theban coinage of this period.
