Obverse description Facing Boeotian shield rendered in high relief, its distinctive curved cutouts at left and right clearly delineated against the rounded central boss. The shield's concave silhouette, characteristic of the Boeotian federal coinage, dominates the entire flan. The surface of the central boss is smooth and convex, framed by the incurved sides of the shield. The design is executed in a bold, archaic style typical of late fifth-century Boeotian mint production.
