| Obverse description | Helmeted head of Athena in left profile, wearing a Corinthian helmet with a prominent crest, rendered in archaic style with a well-defined eye and strong facial features. The goddess's neck and chin are boldly modelled in high relief against the smooth electrum field. To the right, a tunny fish is depicted horizontally, serving as the civic emblem of Kyzikos and a standard type-adjunct on the city's electrum coinage. The composition is compact and centred on the broad, slightly irregular flan characteristic of early Kyzikene staters. No inscription or legend appears on this face. |
