| Obverse description | Pegasus in full flight to the left, rendered with finely detailed musculature and outstretched wings; the forelegs are raised and the hindquarters are powerfully modeled in high relief. The city ethnic letter A (alpha), denoting Ambracia, appears below the body of Pegasus in the lower field. The flan is irregularly shaped, typical of hammered Corinthian-type staters of this period. The design is executed in the early Classical style, reflecting strong artistic influence from the Corinthian mint tradition. |
