Obverse description Nude hoplite warrior advancing to right in dynamic stride, wearing a crested Corinthian helmet; the figure holds a large round shield with a spoked-wheel pattern on the left arm and extends a spear or javelin to the right. The musculature is rendered in archaic relief typical of early Pamphylian coinage. The design occupies the full flan with no border or inscription, conveying vigorous martial energy characteristic of fifth-century BC Aspendian civic coinage.
