Obverse description Forepart of a lion advancing to right, the head turned frontally, with one foreleg extended; the mane is rendered in detailed relief with a scale-like and striated pattern. A monogram appears on the shoulder of the animal. The design is executed in the archaic style characteristic of early Carian coinage, with bold and vigorous modeling of the leonine musculature.
