Obverse description Youthful bare head of Herakles facing right, draped in the Nemean lion skin headdress, with the scalp and open jaws of the lion visible over the crown of the head and the pelt falling behind the neck. The facial features are rendered in fine Hellenistic style, with curling locks escaping beneath the lion skin at the temple. The flan shows the characteristic broad, slightly irregular fabric of South Italian Greek coinage of the period.
