Obverse description A winged female figure, identified as a Nike or Iris type, depicted in three-quarter facing view kneeling in the so-called knielauf pose, her body turned slightly to the right. The figure is draped in a chiton, with large, elaborately rendered wings spread symmetrically to either side, their feathers rendered in fine detail. Her right arm extends forward, holding what appears to be a leafy branch or spray, while her head faces left in profile. The flan is broad and slightly irregular, and the design is rendered in high relief characteristic of Karian civic coinage of the early Classical period.
