Reverse description Irregular incuse reverse of characteristic Kyzikene type, displaying a quadripartite incuse square with four recessed compartments divided by raised ridges, the surfaces of each compartment showing a rough, granular texture produced by the hammer blow of the anvil die. The incuse pattern is asymmetrically impressed into the irregular flan, consistent with the hand-struck hammered technique employed at Kyzikos throughout the archaic and classical periods. No inscriptions, symbols, or figural devices are present. The overall surface of the reverse exhibits the uneven, striated texture typical of this mint's output.
