| Obverse description | Head of Hera facing right, wearing an elaborate stephane (diadem) adorned with scrollwork and a central floral motif, rendered in fine archaic-to-classical transitional style. The hair falls in long, carefully engraved wavy locks behind the neck and over the shoulder. The facial features are finely modeled with a straight nose, almond-shaped eye, and slightly parted lips. The field is plain and unlettered. The portrait exhibits the high-relief, naturalistic craftsmanship characteristic of Argive coinage of the mid-fourth century BC. |
