Obverse description Persian king or hero depicted in the kneeling-running pose (knielauf) to right, clad in kidaris (tiara) and kandys (Persian robe), wielding a spear in the extended right hand and grasping a bow in the left hand. A barley grain appears to the left in the field. The figure is rendered in the Achaemenid artistic tradition common to Cilician coinage of the late fifth and early fourth centuries BC.
