Obverse description Facing left, the idealized bust of Hera rendered in fine archaic-to-classical transitional style, her hair bound by an ornate stephanos adorned with palmette decoration. She wears an elaborate pendant earring featuring an upward-facing crescent surmounted by three pendant drops, and a multi-strand pearl necklace encircling her neck. The portrait is executed with careful attention to divine dignity, characteristic of Knossian coinage of the early Hellenistic period. The field is otherwise plain, with no legend on the obverse.
