Obverse description Pegasos, the winged horse, depicted in flight to the right with wings raised and forelegs lifted in a dynamic rearing pose, rendered with considerable artistic energy characteristic of Corinthian-tradition coinage. The creature's musculature and flowing mane are carefully detailed, and the large outspread wings dominate the upper field. Below the body, the Greek legend ΛΕΥ appears in the lower field, identifying the issuing city of Leukas. The composition fills the irregularly shaped flan with confident workmanship typical of western Greek silver coinage of the mid-fourth century BC.
