| Obverse description | Three-quarter facing head of Hera Lakinia, turned slightly to the right, rendered in fine relief characteristic of late Classical South Italian die-cutting. The goddess wears a stephane (diadem) richly ornamented with palmette motifs, her hair elaborately dressed. The portraiture displays the sophisticated plastic modelling associated with the workshop of Kroton during the mid-fourth century BC. |

| Reverse description | Herakles seated to the left upon a rocky outcrop draped with his Nemean lionskin, depicted in a moment of repose. In his extended right hand he holds a single-handled phiale or cup, while his left arm rests upon his club; a bow is visible beneath him in the lower field. The ethnic inscription ΚΡΟΤΩΝΙΑΤΑΝ appears in the field, identifying the issuing city of Kroton in Bruttium. |
