Obverse description Griffin seated to right with elaborately curled wings, the right forepaw raised; the creature's powerful leonine haunches and aquiline head rendered in fine archaic style. A grape bunch suspended on a vine tendril appears to the right in the field, serving as the civic badge of Teos. The flan is slightly irregular, typical of early Ionian silver coinage of the late Archaic period.
