Obverse description Seated male deity, likely the god Baal or a royal figure in Persian style, enthroned facing left, wearing a draped garment and a crested helmet or tiara; the figure holds a scepter or eagle in the right hand and a shield or lotus in the left. The throne is rendered in profile with architectural detail. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded border typical of Cilician coinage of the Persian period, reflecting the Achaemenid artistic influence prevalent at Mallos in the mid-fourth century BC.
