| Obverse description | Sea turtle (chelone) depicted in high relief, viewed from above, with a smooth, domed carapace rendered in a highly stylized archaic manner. The creature is shown frontally with four stubby flippers splayed outward at the corners and a small head visible at the upper edge. The shell is convex and unpatterned, characteristic of the early Aeginetan smooth-shelled type, distinguishing it from the later land tortoise issues. No legend or inscription appears in the field, the design occupying the full flan. |

| Reverse description | Quadripartite incuse square punched deeply into the flan, divided by raised ridges into four triangular compartments meeting at a central point, forming a skew or pinwheel pattern. Each of the four sections is recessed at an oblique angle, creating a dynamic rotational effect characteristic of early archaic Greek coinage technique. The incuse punch is irregular in outline, reflecting hand-struck production, and occupies the majority of the reverse surface. No inscription or subsidiary device is present. |
