| Obverse description | Apollo, nude, striding vigorously to the right with his right arm extended horizontally and his left arm raised, brandishing a branch or laurel spray aloft. A small running figure (interpreted as a daimon or sprite) perches on Apollo's outstretched right arm. In the lower field, a stag stands to the right, its head turned back. Beneath the god's feet, a small circular incuse pellet occupies the exergual area. The composition is rendered in a bold, dynamic Archaic-to-Early Classical style characteristic of the Achaean colonies of Magna Graecia. |
