Obverse description The winged horse Pegasus is depicted in vigorous flying gallop to the left, rendered in high relief with finely detailed feathering on the outstretched wings and a flowing mane and tail. The musculature of the body is modelled with accomplished naturalism characteristic of the Corinthian die-cutting tradition. Beneath the body, in the lower field, appears the Corinthian civic control mark koppa (Ϙ) on a short stem, serving as the mint identifier. The flan is broad and slightly irregular, with the design well-centred and filling the field.
