Obverse description The field features a large sunflower in high relief, filling nearly the entire face of the medal, with radiating petals surrounding a textured central seed head. The Hebrew legend אושר ("Happiness") is inscribed in the upper field, with individual letters distributed around the upper circumference of the flower. On the bronze/tombac example the flower is not enameled.

Reverse description The reverse depicts a sculptural group in relief after Chaim Gross's sculpture, showing two adult figures dancing energetically with three children around them. The legend "HAPPY CHILDREN" arcs along the upper circumference, with "HAPPY" on the left and "CHILDREN" on the right. The artist's name "CHAIM GROSS" appears in the lower exergue.
