| Reverse description | Square hammered flan bearing multiple horizontal registers of Arabic Kufic script covering the full field, enclosed within a plain linear border running along all four sides of the square flan. The legends are boldly struck in high relief, with the characteristic Western Maghribi script style of the mid-11th century. The reverse field is entirely devoted to religious or mint formulae without figural decoration, in keeping with the anonymous anonymous emission practice of the Taifa rulers of Ceuta (Sabtah). Minor flatness and die shift are visible, consistent with hand-struck production of the period. |
