The half sovereign format traces directly to the Royal Mint's own specification — 22-carat gold, ~4g, 19.3mm — a standard unchanged since its Victorian revival in the 1980s. The Falkland Islands issues coins independently but draws on that specification deliberately, positioning these pieces within a collecting tradition dominated by Royal Mint product while remaining outside it. The first Charles III coinage from any issuer appeared in late 2022, meaning the 2025 date places this well into the established reign rather than among the scramble of transitional issues.
