Obverse description Right-facing bust of Emperor Valentinian III, adorned with a rosette diadem, depicted draped and cuirassed with finely rendered paludamentum folds visible at the shoulder. The emperor's youthful effigy is rendered in the late Roman imperial style, with large stylized eyes and carefully delineated hair ornaments characteristic of fifth-century Ravennate coinage. Pendilia hang from the diadem on either side of the face. The encircling Latin legend reads D N PLA VALENTINIANVS P F AVG, abbreviating Dominus Noster Placidus Valentinianus Pius Felix Augustus.
