Obverse description Diademed, draped, and cuirassed bust of Valentinian I facing right, wearing a pearl diadem with a prominent row of beads. The emperor is depicted in military attire, with the paludamentum fastened at the shoulder and the cuirass visible at the truncation. The effigy is rendered in the confident late Roman portrait style, with finely incised facial features and neatly combed hair. The encircling Latin legend reads D N VALENTINI-ANVS P F AVG, distributed around the periphery of the flan.
