Reverse description Emperor Valens stands facing with head turned to the right, depicted in full military attire including cuirass and paludamentum. In his raised right hand he holds a Chi-Rho labarum standard, while his left hand supports a small winged Victory standing atop a globe; the Victory holds a wreath in her right hand and a palm branch in her left. The reverse legend RESTITVTOR REIPVBLICAE arcs around the design, and the mintmark SMNϵ appears in the exergue, indicating the Nicomedia mint, fifth officina.
