| Obverse description | Helmeted, pearl-diademed, and cuirassed frontal bust of Emperor Theodosius II, facing directly forward in the late antique imperial manner. The emperor wears an elaborately decorated crested helmet adorned with pearls, a heavily ornamented cuirass with pteryges, and a paludamentum fastened at the right shoulder. His right hand is raised holding a spear behind his head, while his left arm bears a decorated shield visible at the lower left. The portrait conveys imperial authority through its rigid, hieratic frontality, characteristic of early fifth-century Constantinopolitan solidus coinage. The circular Latin legend D N THEODO-SIVS P F AVG runs along the periphery of the field. |

| Reverse description | A winged figure of Victory, rendered as a draped female standing in three-quarter view facing left, is depicted seated upon a throne or cuirass behind a tall jewelled cross set upon steps. Victory holds the cross with both hands and her elaborately jewelled wings are spread behind her. To the left of the cross the votive legend VOT XX MVLT XXX is arranged vertically in the field, while an officina letter appears to the right of the central type. The exergual inscription CONOB, certifying the coin's standard gold fineness and its Constantinople mint origin, is prominently displayed below the groundline. The reverse legend MVLT XXX runs along the upper right periphery, completing the votive acclamation. |
