Obverse description Right-facing bust of Emperor Theodosius I, rendered in high relief with finely detailed portraiture characteristic of late Roman imperial coinage. The emperor is pearl-diademed, the diadem decorated with prominent beaded strands, and wears elaborately articulated cuirass and paludamentum (military cloak). The effigy is draped and cuirassed, with visible scale or lorica detail at the shoulder, conveying imperial martial authority. The encircling Latin legend reads D N THEODO-SIVS P F AVG, interrupted by the bust, running clockwise from the lower left.
