| Obverse description | Right-facing bearded bust of the usurper Procopius, adorned with a rosette diadem set with jewels and pendilia, rendered in the late Roman imperial portrait tradition. The emperor is depicted draped in a paludamentum fastened at the shoulder with a fibula, and cuirassed, conveying military authority. Finely engraved striated hair frames the face, and the beard is rendered with characteristic short, incised lines. The obverse legend encircles the bust in Latin capitals, divided by the effigy, reading D N PROCO-PIVS P F AVG. A double beaded border frames the entire composition. |
