| Obverse description | Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Constantius II facing right, depicted as a youthful Caesar with finely striated hair crowned by a laurel wreath adorned with a central jewel. The bust displays elaborately decorated paludamentum fastened at the shoulder and a muscled cuirass with pteryges visible at the shoulder. A decorated fibula is visible at the left shoulder. The encircling Latin legend reads FL IVL CONSTANTIVS NOB C, identifying the emperor as Flavius Iulius Constantius, Noble Caesar. The portrait is rendered in the refined Constantinian court style characteristic of Nicomedian mint production of the mid-330s. |
