Between the two figures rises a patriarchal cross on steps, jointly held by both emperors. Romanos I is attired in loros decorated with prominent jewelled bosses, while Constantine VII wears a chlamys with tablion. The circular border legend ROMAN ET CONSTANT AUGG runs around the periphery within a beaded border, identifying the two co-ruling Augusti. |
