Obverse description Helmeted, pearl-diademed, and cuirassed frontal bust of Emperor Arcadius, the cuirass bearing a Chi-Rho (☧) christogram. The emperor is depicted holding a spear diagonally behind his head in his right hand, while his left arm bears a shield decorated in relief with a horseman trampling a fallen enemy. The legend is arranged in two segments divided by the bust and reads D N ARCADI-VS P F AVG. The portrait follows the late Roman military convention for imperial effigies, combining Christian symbolism with traditional martial iconography.
